it’s lonely at the top…

… of the mountain, at least for air molecules anyway.  They’re few and far between here in Big Bear Lake, California.  It’s been 6 months, fans, but here is an update.  This week I’ve been growing closer to the top of the mountain.  That means I hiked it one day.  Not really because I wanted to.  Mostly because I didn’t want to sit in the cabin all by my lonesome; the band wanted to because they’re boys.  They also informed me that because I am a girl, I am pretty much incapable of what they call “sound effects.”  These said “sound effects” include: ray gun, machine gun, spaceship landing, and laser gun. I tried to prove them wrong with my own sound effect but failed miserably.  Their response? “Girls are good at having babies!”  oh man.

But I digress.  The Sara Beth machine gun (insert adult male sound effect of machine gun) is shootin away.  I’m not having babies, just living life, playing music, and writing songs about broken hearts and whales.  Thoughts of a new CD are in the works.  Thoughts of a podcast are (is? dang, i’m no good at english) in the works. Thoughts of a new band called “Kids in the City” are in the works.  And I’ve written a rap song about google (my sister says it’s really great).  Please check back within the month for a new update.  This machine gun is getting in gear.  Well, in a really peaceful, non brutal way.  boom! -sb

Holiday Cheer! put on your antler headbands.

It’s that time of year again.  Moms adorn their minivans with Rudolph red noses and wreaths (how do they get those things to stay on!), and an inch of snow sends a southern city into a frantic cancellation of schools and buyouts of bread and water at the grocery.  The mailbox has REAL SNAIL MAIL in it, Christmas cards, handwritten, with special messages and pictures.  It’s too hot inside, too cold outside, and everyone’s got a little more crust underneath their nose.  WINTER!  Gray skies, seasonal affective disorder, nighttime begins at 4, parties with lots o’ nog, mittens, Christmas trees (which I recently learned you shouldn’t leave the beautiful twinkling lights turned on all night, it might burn your house down), and there are holiday plays pretty much nightly.  And daily.  I sweated through one today.

I certainly don’t have much to do with this gloriously emotional holiday season, but I haven’t updated my website for a year and 3 months.  So here it is.  An update.  The year of 2011 is going to be an exciting one: I’ve been writing pretty much since the last CD, Tired of Singing Sad Songs, which I’m almost positive was released about 3 years ago.  So 3 years worth of songs.  That’s a lot of content, especially for someone as dramatic as I.  A few love songs, way more breakup songs, happy songs, sad songs, a couple silly ones even.  I guess the songs I have to choose from are similar to the wide range of emotion spreading over the holiday season.

I now have most of what’s considered “important media pages”: twitter (sarabethgeo), facebook (SaraBeth Geoghegan), myspace (does anyone look at this anymore? myspace.com/sarabethnet).  I don’t know that my life merits daily updates, is anyone’s life REALLY that interesting?, but I try my darndest.  So, follow me, get excited for new stuff, and thanks for reading!

much love
